Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA)

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is now responsible for enforcing Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA).  This law prohibits discrimination by employers and health insurers based on genetic test results, imposing strict confidentiality requirements.  Compensatory and punitive damages are available for violations.  Employers also have to update their employment posters to include GINA information.
